Also Known As – Pausinystalia johimbe
Origin - Cameroon - Wild Crafted
Overview - Yohimbe is a small evergreen tree native to central Africa, primarily in the nations of Cameroon, Gabon, and Zaire. The terms yohimbine, yohimbine hydrochloride, and yohimbe bark extract are related but different. Yohimbe refers to the herb. Yohimbine refers to the active chemical found not only in yohimbe but also in Indian snakewood, periwinkle, quebracho, and niando.
Parts Used – Dried bark, ground before use.
Precautions - Specific: Not for use in pregnancy or lactation except under the supervision of a qualified healthcare practitioner. Not for excessive or long-term use in persons with high blood pressure.
General: We recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications.
Preparation - Traditionally used as a tincture. Unlike chopped bark, the powder does not require an acid (such as lemon juice) to be added to the water with which the tincture is taken for maximum effect. Seldom found in an encapsulated form, and while it may be taken as a tea, it has a fairly unpleasant taste.
Dosage: It's best to take this herbal aphrodisiac as needed since it works quickly and there's no need for it to build up in the system like other libido or sexual enhancing herbs. These capsules are easily absorbed, we don't see any advantage to using liquid yohimbe except in those individuals who have difficulty swallowing tablets, capsules or pills. There is a possibility that if yohimbe liquid is quickly absorbed, there could be more unpleasant reactions. Or, you could make your own liquid by dissolving the contents of a capsule in a little bit of juice, water, or tiny amount of wine or spirit.
Yohimbe bark may be used either daily in very small doses, or before planned activity in a larger dose. In our opinion, since extract works quite quickly, it makes sense that it be taken as needed one to three hours before planned sexual activity rather than taken daily. The effects last several hours. We don't recommend you take it close to bedtime since it can have a stimulant and alertness causing effect for several hours. We don't recommend you mix yohimbe pills with alcohol or stimulant drugs, including high doses of caffeine. Small doses of the extract may make you slightly more motivated, but higher doses can cause unpleasant feelings and side effects, which would reduce energy. How long the effects last depend on dosage, but, in general, only a few hours. This is in contrast to other sexual herbs that can have an effect for a day or two. Arginine is a safe supplement to take with it and does not have any significant side effects except when taken in massive dosages.
The effective dosage of yohimbe bark varies depending on the individual using it, the quality of the product, and the extract potency. A starting yohimbe bark powder dosage is between 100 to 200 mg. The dosage depends on the potency of the extract.
Can yohimbe herb and yohimbine be combined with other herbs such as tribulus, muira puama, avena sativa, maca, catuaba, LJ100 or hormy goat weed?
We can only speak from personal and professional experience. Thus far we have combined it with several herbs, including muira puama root herbal sexual enhancer from South America, epimedium sexual herb, and mucuna pruriens extract which influences dopamine neurotransmitter and have not found any significant side effects if very small dosages are used. The effects usually start within an hour or two while other herbs take much longer, often days. Caution is advised when using a yohimbe supplement with medications prescribed for heart disease, high blood pressure, or any medication or herb that stimulates heart tissue to beat faster.
