Pharmaceuticals prescribed for mood are among the most dangerous due to their side effects and high toxicity to brain chemicals and hormones. Medicinal plants and natural nutrients are extremely effective in promoting neurotransmitter balance while promote relaxation.
Mood-stabilizing drugs are purely antimanic agents, which are mainly for treating mania. From this perspective, they are quite different from antidepressants, which are also called mood enhancers, elevators, or boosters in treating depression. Natural mood stabilizers help the body metabolize those chemicals which enhance mood, something drugs can never do due to specific metabolic pathways necessary to metabolize the chemical constituents.
Unlike pharmaceuticals, natural mood stabilizers treat effectively or prevent manic symptoms;
St. John’s Wort has a popular history and is used today for enhancing mood and emotional well-being. The exact mechanism of how St. John’s Wort works is unknown, however, it is thought to work similarly to common prescription anti-depressant medications used today. St. John’s Wort may exert a mild anti-depressive action, and therefore may help to elevate mood. The mood-elevating effects of St. John’s Wort were originally thought to be due solely to the active component, hypericin, but hypericin does not act alone. As with many herbal medicines, St. John’s Wort relies on the complex interplay of many active constituents for its antidepressant actions.
Ashwagandha is used as a nootropic supplement which can dramatically improve mood and mental focus, especially for people suffering from cognitive or emotional imbalances. Those who have been clinically diagnosed with depression or anxiety stand to benefit enormously from the root, as it blocks stress responses and induces anxiolytic effects in much the same manner as GABA. Ashwagandha also works to ease the hyperactive minds of people with ADHD. It can have a soothing, sedative effect, even on healthy minds.
Passion Flower (Passiflora incarnata) has a natural calming and sedative effect. It has been found to increase the levels of GABA in the brain, helping your body relax. Passionflower is used to calm anxiety and insomnia. The flavonoids found in Passion flower are responsible for its anti-anxiety and relaxing effects. It has long been used for panic attacks, mild mood swings, nervous tension, hyperactivity, crying spells, irritability, restlessness, hysteria and epilepsy. Passion Flower tinctures are used for sleep problems (insomnia), ADD, ADHD, gastrointestinal (GI), related to anxiety or nervousness, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and for relieving symptoms related to withdrawal from narcotic drugs.
Valerian Root acts as a sleep aid and natural anxiolytics, able to induce calm, peaceful states of mind. The use of Valerian root has also been shown helpful for mitigating symptoms of PMS and menopause as well as reducing behaviors linked to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Arctic Root (Rhodiola Rosea) Relieves occasional anxiety and positively supports the body during periods of stress. The primary medicinal compounds of Arctic Root are derived from the root of the plant. In Russia, Scandinavia and much of Europe, Arctic Root has been traditionally recognized for its adaptogenic properties. An adaptogen is a physiological agent that naturally increases the body’s resistance to physical and emotional stress. Rhodiola Rosea has been clinically shown to stimulate Serotonin, Norepinephrine and Dopamine activity, and may help to support healthy neurotransmitter balance.
Ingredients: Rhodiola Rosea, Passionflower, St John's Wort, Ashwagandha, Valerian Root and stevia.
Instructions: Use 1 to 1.5 tea spoons in a steeper per cup of hot water. If you feel that you need more than 3 cups a day you can always increase it based on your bodies reaction to the tea. Also, because there is Kava Kava Root and Valerian Root in this herbal tea, please do not drink more than 2 cups at at time during the day. These are strong natural sedatives and may impar your driving.

Pleasantly surprised with how effective and tasty this tea is, for I have already been (and still am) a steady believer in the tincture. Figuring I could not always have access to the tincture, a tea that brought warmth with the exact same benefits, would suffice. Very glad to admit that there is no disappointment whatsoever; now Patricia has provided alternative methods to help address the same concerns...all without resorting to pharmaceutical options (which, in my opinion, is not a beneficial choice given my intra/interpersonal experiences). Thanks for the hope!

Being a male you don't find herbal remedies that are specifically for male ailments such as mood swings and chronic anxiety associated with stress. My anxiety and stress level with everyday life was taking over my life and destroying my relationship with my family because of my mood swings. I didn't want to be put on Prozac or Xanax which my doctor was insisting on. I started looking around for herbal products when I came across this website. I ordered 4 oz of this tea and started drinking it 3-4 times daily. It really helped with the mood swings and anxiety/stress issues. I am basically under control now and my family has noticed a huge improvement with my attitude and life in general.
I also inquired if MMR could make a little stronger version on this tea for helping me sleep better at night. Not that the original version of the tea didn't work, I just wanted something a little stronger. I put in a request and it was granted, and now I am not only a all around better person but I am also sleep soundly through the night.
Thank you so much for helping me and rekindling my family ties.
