Also Known As – Hibiscus sabdariffa, Roselle, red sorrel, African Mallow, Indian Sorrel, Jamaica Sorrel, and Jamaica Tea Flower.
Origin – Organically Grown, Kauai, Hawaii - These are grown on a plantation on the island of Kauai and no pesticides, soil additives or chemicals of any kind have been used in cultivating.
Overview - Hibiscus is a large genus of flowering plants, growing primarily in tropical and subtropical regions, whose flowers are used for a wide range of medicinal purposes and edible products ranging from making jams and jellies to lowering blood pressure, aiding in weight loss, reducing cholesterol and, in some cases, treating cancer. Flowers from the Hibiscus sabdariffa are generally consumed by brewing a medicinal tea or eaten in salads. Like many herbal preparations, however, healing properties and potentially hazardous side effects are associated with the consumption of the plant. Certain precautions should be taken.
Medicinal Uses – Hibiscus flowers, roots and leaves, are anodyne and emmenagogue. They regulate menstruation and stimulate blood circulation. Flower extract has been traditionally used for liver disorders, high blood pressure and as an aphrodisiac. Young leaves and flowers are used in case of headache. Decoction of leaves, root and flower are helpful in treatments of arthritis, boils and coughs, and the flower is used externally in cases of sprains, wounds and ulcers. Hibiscus tea is rich in Vitamin C.
Other Uses – In foods and beverages, hibiscus is used as a flavoring. It is also used to improve the odor, flavor, or appearance of tea mixtures.
Herbs to Combine/Supplement - Some herbs could react with certain medication. Therefore, it is advisable to consult your doctor before consumption of any herb.
Parts Used - The flower, dried, cut, and powdered.
Precautions - This herb should not be used by pregnant women.
Suggested Preparation and Dosage - To harvest hibiscus calyxes for tea, simply snap off the calyxes with your hands when they are fully grown, but still tender. Use clippers to harvest hardened stems. Hibiscus is available as a bulk tea and in tea bags, as well as an ingredient in tea mixtures. Add 1 teaspoon dried flowers to 1 cup boiling water. Steep for 5 to 10 minutes, and enjoy.

The hibiscus flowers were larger and more vibrant than the ones I've bought from other places. I'll definitely buy from here again.

I have ordered this Hibiscus flower several times and love the full flavor. We drink a lot of hibiscus tea, and this is my favorite- I will not use any one else's now that I am spoiled with this one.

I am absolutely in love with these Hibiscus flowers. Their flavor and purity is unmatched. The fact they are grown in Hawaii without any pesticides or exposure to toxins is more appreciated than I can possibly say. Please never stop offering these from Hawaii.
As a tip to anyone suffering from Covid: Gently simmer (on low, never boil): Hibiscus, Marshmallow root, White Willow Bark, Echinacea, Dandelion Root, and Cinnamon Bark; for five minutes. This will alleviate symptoms and help immensely.
In gratitude, Angela

These flowers make a gorgeous tea. I prefer to make a strong tea which has a wonderful deep red color and rich tart flavor. These flowers are far superior to those I have tried from other companies.

I am amazed as to how fresh these flowers are. When I opened the aroma is so beautiful. I have purchased from other shops in the past and this will be my go to shop for lavender, roses, elderflowers, hibiscus and calendula. These flowers are AMAZING!

This is my second time purchasing from Mountain Maus, I just got my package of herbs, just opening the box, all is packaged well, have not used any of the new herbs, but I can report on the other herbs that I have purchased from Mountain Maus, they were all wonderful and I am using most of them in a blended formula under the care of a Master herbalist to correct a condition in my body and they are working. Thanks for supplying such wonderful organic herbs. I will order again in the future Lords willing.

These hibiscus flowers are the best I have purchase from any online store. the color is really nice and compared to other stores you can tell these are fresh because of the smell of the dried flowers. The fact that they come from Hawaii and not some Chinese polluted country is a big plus.

The hibiscus flowers was fresh. I brew just a few of the herb and the tea was amazingly strong. I had to dilute the 8oz. I will buy again. Just amazing.
