Heartburn Herbal Remedies

Nothing ruins a great meal as much as a painful bout of heartburn.

Although over-the-counter meds are often effective, home remedies might help without the trip to the pharmacy.

Whether you've overindulged in a spicy dish or a feast of fatty foods, these natural remedies could help soothe heartburn and put your belly at ease.

 

Aloe vera juice taken before foods is a gentle healer for the digestion and provides symptomatic relief for heartburn

 

Some herbs and spices may be helpful such as Cinnamon, Dill Seeds (two teaspoons of crushed Dill Seeds steeped in hot Water), Fennel tea, Chamomile tea, Peppermint tea and Ginger as a tea or in your cooking

 

Herbs such as Gentian, Marshmallow, Globe Artichoke, Dandelion Root, St Marys Thistle, Golden Seal, Slippery elm, Meadowsweet may help to prevent heartburn and dyspepsia also

 

Slippery Elm (1 teaspoon in a small glass of water 15 minutes before meals) may alleviate heartburn (by coating and soothing the irritated upper gastrontestinal tract)

 

Here is an Herbal tea made with a few herbs to help sooth your heartburn.

Peppermint Leaf (2parts), Thyme (1part), Valerian (1part), Wood Betony (1part), Sarsaparilla Root(1part), Catnip (2parts), White Willow Bark (1part).

Maus recommends that you use 1 tsp. per 1 cup of heated fresh, filtered water,  pour water over tea and steep for 5-7 minutes and enjoy.
